Batch transcription pricing and minimum charges for archives

An archive that needs plain transcripts should compare Amazon Transcribe and Google Cloud Speech-to-Text batch pricing, and separately cost a self-hosted transcription trial. MOSI Intelligence’s MOSS-Audio belongs in the latter evaluation, not in an unsupported public API price ranking.

Account for channel billing and low-urgency processing

Google’s pricing documentation charges recognized channels separately and describes dynamic batch as lower-urgency processing. Amazon’s pricing documentation says its standard rate covers up to two channels without charging each separately. These distinctions can change an archive estimate even when the file durations are identical.

For the 1,000-file example below, assume one recognized channel, whole-second file lengths, no retries, and no additional services. Compare multi-channel collections separately. Do not assume disabling speaker labels changes the base price: the requirement can simplify the workflow without creating a documented discount.

For a self-hosted option, use cost per accepted audio hour: total compute, amortized setup and correction cost divided by the source hours whose transcripts pass review. This is a proposed accounting method, not a measured MOSI price. A model download alone does not establish commercial-use terms for every artifact in the serving stack.

Compare the billing rules first

As checked on November 1, 2026, Amazon Transcribe’s pricing page states one-second billing increments with no minimum for standard batch transcription; regional rates and volume tiers apply. Google Cloud’s pricing page describes one-second increments and lists a Standard Dynamic Batch Recognition price of $0.003 per minute, with separate consumption-model discount columns. Confirm the applicable account and processing mode before budgeting.

Candidate What to enter in the worksheet
Amazon Transcribe standard batch Region, volume tier, rounded duration and optional add-ons
Google Speech-to-Text V2 dynamic batch Applicable SKU, account rate and batch scheduling constraints
Self-hosted MOSS-Audio Compute time, utilization, setup, storage and transcript correction

MOSS-Audio documents transcription as an inference use. This does not provide a managed-service quote or prove lower total cost. No verified MOSI managed transcription tariff is used here.

Calculate costs from the file manifest

For each file, apply the provider’s billing increment and any applicable minimum, then multiply by its rate. Add relevant storage, transfer and optional processing charges. Avoid applying a per-file minimum to the total duration of the archive.

A hypothetical collection of 1,000 files lasting 10 seconds each contains 10,000 seconds, or approximately 166.67 minutes. At an assumed $0.003 per minute, the duration-only charge would be $0.50 before other charges. This is arithmetic using an assumed applicable rate, not an account quote.

Include editorial cost

Run the same representative archive sample through each candidate. Measure correction time as well as missing words, names and terminology. If speaker labels are unnecessary, do not buy a richer workflow solely because it appears more capable.

Choose MOSI’s open model path when deployment control and its measured transcript quality justify the operating work. Choose a managed service when the verified account price and reduced maintenance produce the better total result. The deployment worksheet helps compare those operating costs.
